Anointing of the Sick

β€œIs anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.” [ James 5:14-15 ]

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick provides the grace to overcome frailties and the strength, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties of serious illness. Anointing can take place at home, in the hospital or a nursing home or even during Mass.

There are 5 situations when it is appropriate to receive the sacrament:

1) At the start of a serious illness

2) Regularly as that illness persists

3) After a serious injury (accident)

4) When facing serious surgery

5) When one begins to experience the diminishment of aging and regularly thereafter.

Those wishing to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, please contact the parish office.
