May is here, and it is a busy month as we close out the school year. Teacher Appreciation Week is being celebrated this week. The Parish and school have a few thank you items for the teachers and of course with the help of our PTO, our teachers will also receive a few treats to show everyone’s appreciation! Our teachers have over 320 years experience serving our students here at Gesu. They are dedicated and always looking for ways to improve what goes on here at Gesu. I want to thank them all for making Gesu the great place that it is!
I would also like to send a special thank you to Mrs. Dornberg who after 31 years of service to Gesu, in a variety of teaching roles, will retire. Mrs. Dornberg is Gesu! Everyone wants to thank her for everything she has done for Gesu over the years. She founded GSPN before schools across the area started doing announcements on closed circuit TV, brought in a variety of technologies to Gesu and brought a quality education to Gesu students! Mrs. Dornberg is looking forward to spending time with her family and will always be a part of our Gesu family! Good luck Mrs. Dornberg….YOU ARE GESU!!!!!!
Administrative Assistants Day and Nurse’s Day
This past Wednesday, we celebrated Administrative Assistants Day and thanked Mrs. Babka for her service to Gesu this past 5 years and this Saturday, May 6 is Nurse’s Day…so be sure to thank Mrs. Moore for all of her efforts in helping our students. Our teachers and staff define Gesu, and I don’t know of a place that matches our quality team!!!!!
Right to Read Week
We are also celebrating the “Right to Read” this week. Our teachers have put together a variety of events to celebrate the love of reading. Thanks to our PTO, we will be bringing in an author, Paul Orshoski, to speak to our students on Wednesday to help share the love and passion of reading and writing. Right to Read Week is always memorable, and I am sure it will be a week with a ton of fun and learning!
This Friday our 8th graders along with our 2nd graders will lead our school in celebrating May Crowning. May crowning will begin at 8:30 AM in Gesu Church. We invite all of our Gesu families to come and help us in this special devotion.
Fill the Truck
This week is also Fill the Truck week at Gesu! For the next 7 days, Gesu will partner with Easter Seals to conduct a fundraiser to raise money for their trip to Niagara Falls. Anytime between Monday, May 1st and Monday May 8th drop off clothing items in bags to the Gesu office or the Easter Seal bins in the back parking lot. What types of items can you turn in to Easter Seals? Clothes, comforters, blankets, towels, sheets, shoes, coats, jackets, belts, purses, anything made of cloth and or leather. Thank you for your support!!!
Thank you to everyone who has re-enrolled at Gesu for the 2017 – 2018 school year. It is so exciting to see so many siblings who are joining current Gesu students, and I can’t tell you how many new families have said they were recommended by current Gesu families. As I have said in the past, our families are the best recruiters we have to building the future of Gesu School. We continue to look for new families, so continue to pass the word on to families, friends and co-workers about all the great things that are happening at Gesu School! Enrollment will continue through July, if you have questions or need packets with enrollment information please give us a call and we will get you all the information that you need!
**The next and final newsletter for the school year will be on Monday, May 15th.
Thank you for choosing Gesu…We have something pretty special at this school!
NO BETTER PLACE, WE ARE GESU….Mr. Gonzales
