I hope everyone had a wonderful 3-day weekend. It feels like spring, however it is only February! Regardless, enjoy the nice weather this week, because I am sure winter will return! Last week registration papers went home to all Gesu families for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Please be sure to return all proper paperwork as soon as possible. There are many deadlines in terms of scholarships, so be sure to get everything in on time! Open House is just a couple of weeks away, and as I have been mentioning, please spread the word to your friends, family and neighbors. We hope to have a great turnout on Sunday, March 5th!
Gesu Fish Frys
Lent begins on March 1st and our annual Fish Frys will start on Friday, March 3rd in the Gesu Gym (Loyola Hall).
The Fish Frys start every Friday of Lent at 4:30 PM and end at 7:00 PM.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our Parish and School communities, along with others in the area to gather for good times and great food!
Please help us continue a wonderful tradition at Gesu and join us for our Fish Frys during Lent!
Two weeks ago, our Middle School Mathcounts team participated against other local schools at the yearly Mathounts competition at The University of Toledo. Congratulations to our team: 8th graders Maya and Jocelyn, 7th grader Eric and 6th grader Katie. It was a great experience for all and thank you to Mr. Gill for working with them over the past couple of months!
Be sure to check out the final two pages of the newsletter to see our students who made the 2nd quarter Honor Roll. Our academics are the cornerstone of Gesu and we are so proud of our students who are making the grade! These students make all of us here at Gesu proud! Hopefully the list will continue to grow by the end of the 3rd quarter!
The Ohio Dental Outreach Program had to change our date of service!
They will be coming to Gesu School on Thursday, March 9th. If you want to be at school with your child, please let the nurse know (if you signed up for the program). You may send a note or call the nurse at 419-304-3474 or the main office if you have any questions about the program!
It is time to start collecting and turning in those Boxtops to help raise money for Gesu School. During the month of February, the classes will compete to see who can turn in the most Boxtops. The winning class will win a breakfast and lunch!!! The competition will run until Tuesday, February 28th. So, start collecting and turning in Boxtops to your classroom teacher! You can find Boxtops on many food and household products… BOXTOPS…BOXTOPS…BOXTOPS!!!
Pennies for Patients
For the past several years Gesu School has helped raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients Program. During this program, Gesu students will collect money to support LLS’s mission: to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Gesu will collect money from February 6th – February 24th. All students should return their box no later than February 27th. The class that brings in the most money will win a special lunch sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I can’t thank you enough for helping to support a wonderful cause.
