Baptism
Baptism is the first Christian sacrament and admits a person of any age into the Catholic Church.
Confirmation
The anointing of a baptized person with Sacred Chrism by the local bishop usually happens in a person's 8th grade year. Confirmation can take place at any age after a person's baptism.
Eucharist
The Eucharist is the central sacrament of the Catholic community and its celebration is the reason a parish exists. Many make their first Communion around 2nd grade but first reception of Communion can happen at any age.
An anointing and a blessing that provides the grace to overcome frailties and the strength, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties of serious illness. Anointing can take place at home, in the hospital or a nursing home and during Mass at church.
Reconciliation
Offered individually Monday-Friday before 7am Mass, and Saturday both before 8am Mass and at 3pm. During Advent and Lent prayer services with individual confessions are scheduled.
Couples wishing to get married at Gesu must contact the office 6 months to 1 year in advance of your desired date. You must live within the parish boundaries or be a registered, active member. If you are living out of town now but grew up at Gesu and would like to get married at Gesu, please first contact your local parish priest first to begin the process.
Women and Men considering a vocation to the religious life or men considering a call to the Sacrament of Holy Orders (deacon/priest) should first speak to their parish priest, deacon or other spiritual companion.
